Hello. How can we help you?

Setting Up Your First WiSeNode Device

Getting started with WiSeNode is designed to be straightforward. After connecting your hardware and activating your account, your first measurements can typically be viewed within minutes. This guide walks you through the basic setup process and explains what happens behind the scenes.

A standard WiSeNode installation consists of three components: a FieldNode, one or more connected sensors, and a Gateway that forwards sensor data to the WiSeNode Cloud. Once the Gateway has an active internet connection, incoming measurements are securely transmitted and become available through your online dashboard.

Before installing the hardware, ensure that the selected location provides sufficient power and wireless coverage. The FieldNode should be mounted according to the installation guidelines of the connected sensor, while the Gateway should preferably be placed at an elevated location to maximize LoRa communication.

After powering on the FieldNode, log in to the WiSeNode Cloud and navigate to Devices. Select Register Device and enter the unique device identifier found on the product label. The platform will automatically associate incoming measurements with your account.

The first data transmission may take a few minutes, depending on the configured measurement interval. During this period, the device status will change from Pending to Online once communication has been established successfully.

If no data appears after several minutes, verify the power supply, internet connectivity of the Gateway, and the sensor wiring. Most connectivity issues are resolved by confirming that the Gateway is online and that the device has been registered correctly.

Once the device is operational, you can continue configuring dashboards, notifications and user permissions to tailor the platform to your monitoring requirements.

FAQ

How long does it take before my device appears online?

After registering your device and powering it on, it may take several minutes before the first measurements appear in the WiSeNode Cloud. The exact timing depends on the configured transmission interval and the availability of the Gateway connection. If your device remains offline for an extended period, verify the power supply, Gateway connectivity, and device registration.

What should I do if my device is not sending data?

Start by checking whether the FieldNode is powered on and the connected sensor is installed correctly. Next, confirm that the Gateway has an active internet connection and that the device has been registered in your WiSeNode Cloud account. If everything appears to be configured correctly but no data is received, restarting the device and Gateway often resolves temporary communication issues.
