Monitoring a full-scale dike failure test
After months of preparation and the installation of advanced monitoring equipment by our trusted partner, the test dike at Kampen was deliberately subjected to extreme conditions and ultimately collapsed. Throughout the entire process, an extensive network of sensors continuously recorded deformations, crack formation, ground movement, and water pressure.

WiSeNode monitored more than 60 channels of water pressure and displacement sensors. All data was transmitted live to the WiSeNode Cloud and simultaneously made available to third-party software through the built-in REST API, enabling real-time analysis and integration into external modeling systems.
The high-frequency data collected during the infiltration phase and eventual failure of the dike provides valuable new insights. These measurements form a critical foundation for the calculation models used by dike engineers and water management professionals. The results of this controlled burst test contribute to improved assessment methods, more accurate strengthening strategies, and a deeper understanding of dike behavior under extreme water conditions.
